ICA Cattle Calls
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to host our annual Cattlemen at the Capitol event. While boots will be missed in the Capitol Rotunda, rest assured, legislators will be treated to a hearty beef lunch to remind them of the economic value and the legacy of Iowa’s beef cattle industry.
To keep our priorities top of mind during the 89th General Assembly, we’ve adapted to provide opportunities for members to engage directly with elected officials.
Three virtual ICA Cattle Calls will take place throughout the 2021 Legislative Session. Each Zoom meeting offers a unique opportunity for members to connect with key decision makers in a casual, conversational setting.
Meetings are scheduled for 30 minutes—the perfect amount of time to drink a fresh cup of coffee and warm up after a morning of chores.
Cattle Call #1 - Ag Committee Members
Tuesday, February 2 | Noon
We will meet via Zoom with Iowa's House and Senate Ag Committee Members to discuss agricultural issues of importance in the 89th General Assembly. As of January 28, 2021, we have confirmed participation from Reps. Sexton, Hein, Klein, Mommsen, Paustian, and Sieck, and Sens. Sweeney, Shipley, and Edler.
Cattle Call #2 - Freshman Members
Tuesday, March 9 | Noon
More than two dozen new officials took oaths of office in January to represent Iowans in Des Moines. In this meeting, Iowa cattlemen will focus on building relationships with the new faces of the Iowa Legislature.
Cattle Call #3 - Urban Legislators
Tuesday, April 6 | Noon
This meeting provides an opportunity for cattlemen to connect with legislators that represent urban Iowans. We will work together to help bridge the gap between rural and urban Iowa.
