Virtual BeefMeets

Out of an abundance of caution we have decided to transition our in person BeefMeets into a virtual format this year. The BeefMeets events capture advocacy, leadership and education and grassroots input all into one event.  Although we are doing things a little differently the mission of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association is still very much present.

Policy Development: In place of the district breakout sessions we are going virtual and hosting three Policy Huddle teleconferences related to the three committees: Beef Products, Business Issues and Cattle Production.  You can register for those teleconferences below.

Education: We hosted a series of three webinars throughout the month of June. You can review them below.  We will also be hosting free in person farm tours in late August!

Farm Tour Dates:

  • August 25 | 5:00 p.m. - SFI, Inc. - Nemaha, IA
  • August 26 | 5:00 p.m. - Alan & Sara Mohr's - Marengo, IA
  • August 27 | 5:00 p.m. - Steve & Marty Schwers - New Vienna, IA

If you have any questions please, contact our events coordinator, Kate.

BeefMeets Policy Huddles

As ICA staff, it is our job to ensure that the voices of our members are heard. Most of you are likely familiar with our annual BeefMeets, where producers from across the state come together to learn, engage, and inform.  Due to COVID-19, our board and staff had to adapt and overcome unprecedented challenges to ensure similar opportunities would be provided to our membership.  In the month of June, we hosted three webinars focused on important and timely issues related to the beef cattle industry.

If you missed these live webinars, you can view them below. In preparation for our annual Policy Committee Day on July 21, and the NCBA Summer Business Meeting, we are hosting three teleconferences focused on issues connected to our three committees: Beef Products, Business Issues, and Cattle Production.

These teleconferences will start with a brief focus topic discussion led by ICA member leaders and staff, and will follow with an open forum to welcome grassroots feedback and input from current paid members.  This is an intentional and more formal piece of our policy development process, which will help inform and guide decisions made between now and the 2020 Leadership Summit in December.
