Iowa Foundation Heifer program
The Iowa Foundation Heifer Program is a joint effort between the Iowa Beef Breeds Council and the Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation to promote Seedstock Herd Development and help youth become more involved in the cattle industry.
The award winner will receive three Registered Bred Heifers of the breed of their choice. This program will require a lot of responsibility and we want each applicant to be fully aware of the commitment they are applying for.
This application is your opportunity to show us how serious you are about a program such as this. Please look over each question carefully and answer to the best of your ability. We look forward to reviewing the applications and wish all who apply the best of luck.

Grant Lubben
Initiated in an attempt to help young Iowans begin foundation beef herds, this is the 9th year of the Iowa Foundation Heifer Program.
Grant was chosen from a group of extremely well qualified applicants. He is a 7th grader at Anamosa Middle School in Anamosa, Iowa where he is active in cross-country and football. Grant lives with his parents and his 16 year old sister, Grace, on a farm near Monticello.
He is an active member of the Jones County Central 4-H Club, showing both market beef and bucket bottle calf projects. Grant is a member of the Iowa Jr Red Angus Association and has participated at county and state events. His recommendations describe him as a student with leadership qualities who is willing to volunteer and accept responsibilities in his school, community and church. He is a competitive, hard-working, enthusiastic young man, willing to help others.
He has a passion for the cattle business and has chosen Red Angus as his breed of choice. He is excited to begin his duties as the new owner of three Red Angus heifers. Those heifers were purchased from Nolin Red Angus (the Mike Nolin Family of Monroe, IA) by the Iowa Beef Breeds Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation. At the end of 5 years, when he graduates from high school, Grant will help further fund the project by contributing $6,000.
